Knowledge Base
Your knowledge base is the foundation of your AI agent. It’s where your agent learns about your business, products, services, and the questions your customers are likely to ask. The better your knowledge base, the smarter and more helpful your agent will be.
This guide will walk you through each method you can use to build and expand your knowledge base in Chatica.
1. Scraping your website
Section titled “1. Scraping your website”
One of the easiest ways to start is by letting Chatica automatically pull content from your website. Simply enter your website URL, and Chatica will crawl through the site to gather all the accessible pages. This includes content like your About page, services, FAQs, and policies.

Once the initial scan is complete, you can review the list of pages it found and choose exactly which ones you’d like the agent to learn from. For example, you might want to include your core pages but skip blog articles or seasonal promotions.
This gives you the flexibility to scrape broadly, but train precisely — ensuring your agent only learns from the most relevant and evergreen content.
Best for: Quickly populating your agent with core business information.
2. Adding Q&A pairs
Section titled “2. Adding Q&A pairs”
You can manually add frequently asked questions and their answers. These direct question-and-answer pairs are especially useful for common customer queries like “What are your opening hours?” or “Do you ship internationally?”
Best for: Ensuring consistent, accurate answers to specific, repeat questions.
3. Uploading files
Section titled “3. Uploading files”
If you have existing documents, like PDFs and Word files, you can upload them directly. This is helpful for things like product manuals, return policies, or procedures.
Best for: Making use of long-form content that customers may need access to.
4. Entering free text
Section titled “4. Entering free text”
Free text allows you to write in your own information or expand on specific topics that may not exist elsewhere. You can use this to describe processes, write detailed product descriptions, or clarify edge cases.
Best for: Custom information, unique workflows, or anything not already documented.
5. Searching your knowledge base
Section titled “5. Searching your knowledge base”
Chatica also includes a knowledge base search tool that allows you to simulate a customer query and view exactly what content would be used to answer it. The results show the source of the information, so you can easily debug or refine your agent’s knowledge.
This is especially helpful if the AI agent responds with outdated or incorrect information. You can search the problematic query, identify the source, such as an old webpage, and then choose to update or remove that content.
Best for: Troubleshooting, auditing, and improving the accuracy of your agent.
The more high-quality content you add, the more reliable and useful your AI Agent becomes. Combine these methods for best results, and keep your knowledge base updated as your business evolves.
